Audi's New "Virtual Cockpit"- The Instrument Cluster of the Future

Once again, Audi is staying far ahead of the curve when it comes to in-vehicle technology.  Audi's latest revelation is the "Virtual Cockpit".
Audi describes the Virtual Cockpit like this:  "Everything in view, directly in front of the driver - The Audi virtual cockpit, a fully digital instrument cluster, is completely driver-focussed. The 12.3-inch TFT display depicts all the information in razor-sharp, brilliantly clear and high-contrast quality".

Originally introduced only the Audi TT, the Virtual Cockpit will soon be available on other models as well.  It will be available on the 2016 Q7, and possibly others for 2016.  The beauty of the Virtual Cockpit is that the driver is able to change their view of the completely digital dash view.  There are no analog instruments whatsoever, everything on the digital screen.  Even in bright sunlight, the screen is beautifully clear.  This truly is the instrument cluster of the future.

Introducing the Audi A3

The Audi A3 appears to be the hands-down winner in the expanding compact luxury sedan class.  With the A3, Audi has been able to do a small luxury car, without sacrificing style, performance or luxury.

The unmistakable front end and stylish curves leave no doubt that this is an Audi, basically a little smaller and sportier version of it's larger siblings.  Since the A3 is, obviously, smaller than the A4 inside and out, Audi has streamlined the interior, rather than trying to cram all of the A4's controls into a smaller space.  The result is a stream-lined, yet elegant and intuitive cockpit.   One change is the very cool 7" pop-up screen on the A3, rather than the built-in and sometimes-obtrusive screens on competitors models.

Standard features include leather power seats, glass sunroom, and HD/Satellite radio, with the Audi MMI infotainment system.

The standard engine in the A3 for 2015 is an inline 4-cylinder that produces 170 horsepower with 200 ft-lbs of torque.  The 2.0 TSFI model bumps those numbers to 220 horses with 258 ft-lbs of torque.  Either engine provides excellent mileage (23/33 and 24/33 mpg, respectively), far outdistancing many of it's competitors.
